Technically
speaking, I’m Catholic. I believe in you and
me. I'm like Albert Schweitzer and Bertrand Russell
and Albert Einstein in that I have a respect for life... in
any form. I believe in nature, in the birds, the sea,
the sky, in everything I can see or that there is real
evidence for. If these things are what you mean by
God, then I believe in God. But when lip service to
some mysterious deity permits bestiality on Wednesday and
absolution on Sunday, cash me out.

Being an eighteen-karat manic-depressive, and having lived a life of violent emotional contradictions, I have perhaps an over-acute capacity for sadness and elation. But I'm not one of those complicated, mixed-up cats. I'm not looking for the secret to life.... I just go on from day to day, taking what comes.
I’ve always said that my greatest ambition in life was to pass on to others what I know. The lost art of livin’, or whatever you want to call it.
There’s been quite a controversy out there as to whether or not I should appear here. I want to say that it seems as though those people who thought I shouldn’t, are going to lose out in a very big way.
So this is my gift to you. You’d be well advised not to refuse it.
